Extensive interviews with participants from all over the world resulted in valuable insights. Visualizing that
information for effective communication involved multiple layers of charts and social network maps.
This study was conducted in two parts, the first part looked within the sales team of the organization by
interviewing people at various levels and from over 10 different countries. The second part involved
understanding the issues between this global software company and it's biggest partner. This phase also
involved extensive user-interviews and organizational mapping. The interviews raised issues both culturally
across geographies and across teams within a geography.
From a visual design point of view the challenge was to highlight important findings from the study, both
as social network maps as well as building charts that could highlight core issues faced by individuals and
teams. Displaying all the information and flagging priority areas using charts that accompanied the
extensive written report made a key impact on the project. Again a key factor in the visual language
was using verbatim quotes from the interviews where appropriate and color coding to indicate priority.
