This project was a collaboration between the XL Group
and Parsons school of design. The XL group had a
working application for tracking activities of the
knowledge worker but needed it to be analyzed for
usability and visual appeal.
After extensive competitive analysis and user testing
we found that adding collaborative features in the tool
would make it a lot more attractive to it's target
audience. The feeling of being monitored which
prevailed could be replaced by making the tool useful in
allowing the various members of a project who work in
diverse fields like engineers, designers and sales
people to come together on one single platform.
In addition to this major discovery, many smaller adjustments
were suggested in improving the efficiency of performing tasks.
Several options were designed to test for visual appeal and a
new user interface was created for the application. Some of the
quick fixes were implemented right away and the product was
made a lot more user-friendly.
