This site was designed to promote enable easy information sharing between the sales and marketing teams at one of India’s large IT and IT infrastructure companies

Microland already has a talented Sales and Marketing team that is distributed geographically in various places in India, Europe and the US. They wanted a Knowledge sharing portal that would help users at various levels share documents and collaboratively work on proposals in the most efficient way.

To design this site we first conducted user interviews with various levels of users from the Sales and Marketing teams in various locations.

We summarized the learning from these interview and identified problem areas and possible solutions. This resulted in a slightly revised structure for the application and fed into the visual design as well. While we looked at the design of this independently, it was also important that it integrated well with a design system that could be used across all Microland’s web based properties.

We took the final design back to the users we had interviewed at the start of the project to get their feedback and both the Sales and Marketing teams were happy with the outcome. The success of this led us to subsequently redesign Microland’s corporate website, sales presentation template and intranet as well.

All this was possible due to the structured approach taken by the Design Cell. Prior to the design, they conducted a benchmarking study of user navigation and content structure and provided design options based on the same. Our inputs in the design options were incorporated promptly.

The knowledge management portal design was based on their consulting approach. They interacted with a sample set of stakeholders spread across geographies and did in-house research on similar portals. The final design incorporated information structure which suited requirements of all stakeholders.”
