Intranet for all employees of a large IT company.

The objectives of the intranet was to both reflect the young and vibrant spirit of the company while retaining corporate colours and to be informative and collaborative.
Micoland’s exisiting intranet was already functional and in use by employees to access specific forms and other information, but the challenge was to change its positioning to a more collaborative and personal space that encouraged users to share photos, hobbies, tech tips etc.

We first conducted user interviews with various levels of users from and summarized the learnings from these interviews.
We also bought industry reports on the world’s best corporate intranets to identify current best practices.
While we wanted to re-brand the look and feel and offer a lot more tools and content, we were also careful not to change the overall structure as a lot of work had already gone into it.

This resulted in an intranet which followed the ML corporate colours with a twist that made it look younger and more current. The homepage has a lot more changing content and there are many more collaborative tools.

“We now have a easy to navigate website with a professional look and feel.
All this was possible due to the structured approach taken by the Design Cell. Prior to the design, they conducted a benchmarking study of user navigation and content structure and provided design options based on the same. Our inputs in the design options were incorporated promptly.

The knowledge management portal design was based on their consulting approach. They interacted with a sample set of stakeholders spread across geographies and did in-house research on similar portals. The final design incorporated information structure which suited requirements of all stakeholders.”
